Welcome to the site for our Community Plantaid Nursery in Marysville. You don't need to become a member, but if you do, don't forget to go to the
Offers/Request Forum tab to let us know how you would like to contribute. Use this page also to request specific services from those who would like to support you in your efforts to contribute. For example, do you need your plants to be transported, or do you need advice on propogation?
Please select the
Information/Links and
Photos tabs to assist in your choice of recommended plants for the area. Also, the Information/Link page provides very important lists of
what plants have been declared environmental/noxious weed for the area and therefore must be avoided.
A very knowledgeable local, John Philp (please refer to his membership page), has provided many photos and details of plants he had in his garden before the fires and is now adding to his new garden as he restores it. These photos should provide you with suggestions of what are desirable and loved plants for our gardens. Also, John is writing small articles on some of the plants which feature at our nursery. We continue to run our own not-for-profit PlantAid Community Nursery to help us receive, care for, identify, and distribute the many wonderful donations of plants to our community members as they gradually build their new homes and gardens. Already local people are registering their gardens and have begun to take delivery of some of their plants. This nursery will hopefully be functioning at least until the end of 2010, provided we receive more funding and plant donations, plus volunteer help.
The nursery is situated at Maryton Park B & B, Maryton Lane, Marysville. Maryton Lane is approximately 3 kms from Marysville along the Buxton-Marysville Rd, or approximately 8 kms from Buxton. Vic Roads has donated a large sign for the nursery at the roadside across from Maryton Park, so you can't miss it.
Open times are every Tuesday 9am-4pm, and every Sunday 10am-4pm.

If any Garden Clubs or Societies wish to help us with the maintenance of the nursery, please contact Shelly as above or Judy on 0438 354 399. We would eagerly welcome help with such nursery tasks as potting up, fertilising, plant identification, labelling and grouping. For instance, the Mansfield Garden Club has just spent a working day with us and managed to pot up about 200 plants, identify and label many plants, and repositition them according to sun/shade requirements and type. The members brought their lunch, garden gloves, secateurs and trowels and had fun. It was a great day!
We have a rather embarrassing request - for those who wish to donate plants to our nursery, we would ask that geraniums/pelagoniums be kept to a minimum. We have so many of these beautiful plants but we wish to make room for other types of plants.
We are very grateful for the assistance you have already given us, and we thank you very much.
